ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Gallery
Peter J. Hansen

I was born and raised in Yosemite National Park, California. I spent the first 14 years of my life surrounded by this natural beauty. Perhaps the subtle beginning of enjoying landscape and light. Early art instruction began with my grandmother in Southern California. She was an artist and art instructor. I also received art instruction in high school.  Boarding school in “Utah” and The University of Utah, (BA History) allowed me to see the west and southwest.

Do I know my mountains?  I taught skiing at Alta for one and a half seasons. This also was a significant influence on my landscapes and skyscapes.

Three years in Germany as an Army Captain allowed me to travel the great cities and the wonderful museums. A whole new history lesson in art, and I skied everything.

Hotel industry management and computer sales, (Area VP of Sales) came next. Travel all over the United States and Europe brought the beginning of what would be the next profession, a painter!

My wife and I recently moved from a mountain in Colorado, 9,300 feet above sea level, to Palm Beach County, Florida. The scenery has changed, but it is all still inspiring…we are also thawed.

I will always paint. Each new piece brings a lesson and satisfaction.
