Kimbell McCurry, a native Texan, now resides in the Kansas City area and actively participates in painting events and art shows locally and throughout the country.
Kimbell received a BFA from Midwestern State University, worked as a graphic artist and owned a screen printing business for many years. After his children went away to college, he took a drawing class which flourished into a passion for oil painting.
He paints in a representational impressionistic style depicting subjects such as western motifs, landscapes, still lifes, animals, and figures. While much of his work is done in the studio, he enjoys painting outdoors and participates in many plein air events. Kimbell moved to Overland park in 2009, and is a member of the Greater Kansas City Art Association, Outdoor Painters Society, and is a charter member of the Missouri Valley Impressionists Society.
